All PDF Files Appear To Have Black Dot Matrix Background

I'm running Win7 Pro, Office 2007. When I load up Adobe Reader 9.2 any PDF opened appears to have the entire page covered with black dots equally separated like a dot matrix pattern. This is with any PDF file not just the ones I convert a Word doc with MS PDF converter. While you can still read the document text, a plain white background would be much better.

Anyone having this issue?

That sounds quite strange, are you able to upload a screenshot of this so that we can see it? And this issue occurs with every single PDF you open, even with some random ones from the web, not just ones you created?

Basically, if it happens with every second PDF file that you open, and all of these PDFs have come from different sources, then it sounds like a problem, or an unwanted setting, with Adobe Reader. The screenshot will help us determine where the problem lies…

Hi Rowan,

I have the same problem.

Every second PDF I open, I get the black dots, looking like a matrix. If I mark something in the document, the dots move, but stay. If you need a screenshot, I will send it to you. Do you have a tip, which is the unwandted setting or problem in Adobe?

Thanks for your answer in advance!

Nice Greetings, Juergen

Yes, if you could send me the screenshot, or better yet, embed it within your response here (you can edit your response and add things to it) that will help greatly.

Steps to fix this problem:
    1. Open a pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader
    2. Click on "Edit"
    3. Click on "Preferences"
    4. Click on "Page Display"
    5. Uncheck "Show transparency grid"
    6. Click on "OK"

The dot matrix pattern should now be gone.

Regards,
Anil.
